Hello internet.
Well, I've been wanting to venture into the world of blogging for a while, but until now I've never had the courage. I've been doing a lot of soul-searching lately, and I think that having a medium to share my thoughts with the world would be good for me.
I'm calling this blog "rivers in the wasteland" at the moment, because it's from one of my favourite Bible verses: Isaiah 43:19.
Also, "Rivers in the Wasteland" is the title of NEEDTOBREATHE's incredible new album. Yeah, I'm kind of a fangirl.
I should introduce myself.
My name is Hannah, and I'm a 17-year-old high school student residing in a boring city in western Canada. Don't get me wrong, I love my home, but I've hardly ever left this area before, and I'm itching to get out.
I am an evangelical Christian going to a Catholic school. My family and I attend a church (or rather, an "assembly") that is part of the Plymouth Brethren movement. I'm trying to figure out whether or not this is right for me. I love Jesus, but the rest is kind of up in the air.
I love reading blogs and poems and novels and disturbing memoirs. Writing has long been a passion of mine, another reason that I'm starting this blog. I also love analyzing writing, especially song lyrics. I'm completely, nerd-ily obsessed with writing and literature and would love to major in English in university.
I am the most socially awkward person ever. I'm not saying that to sound cute or humble or whatever, it's actually a problem.
I have a beautiful, supportive family, with a mom, dad, brother, and two sisters.
I love nature, animals, children, flowers, baking, Taylor Swift, and all that other stereotypical girl stuff.
This has got to be the most boring beginning to a blog ever. Anyway, thanks for dropping by! Hopefully I can organize my thoughts and figure out actual topics to write about. I'm thinking maybe some music/book reviews or theological discussions or something.
Thank you for submitting yourself to my aimless ramblings. Have a great day.

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. That means a lot to me. I love the image of God putting a raging river where there was once nothing but sand and barrenness. I will expand on this in a later post.
